Château de Chambert "Le Causse"

Le Causse offers a delightful mix of spicy red fruit aromas, with hints of licorice, wild strawberry, and blackberry, all balanced perfectly with a refreshing touch.

Le Causse is a 100% Malbec grown under the AOC Cahors designation, in the Cahors region of France. The vines are 40 years old on average, grown on a selection of three unique soils: brown clay-limestone, iron rich clay siderolithic and Kimmeridgien limestone.

After harvesting, the grapes are fermented with indigenous yeast at 82.4 - 86 degrees Fahrenheit in small concrete vats. Following a gentle extraction to preserve a quality tannin profile, maceration is carried out over the course of about 5-10 days. Finally, the wine is aged in concrete tanks to allow for malolactic fermentation.
